For most of that replay time your experience will remain unchanged. In order to access the DLC you will need to start playing a save from before * Spoilers* the attack on the Cerberus Base *Spoilers* and play through both that mission and the mission on earth. Warning: This review will have spoilers for Mass Effect 3's original ending, but will try and avoid spoiling the Extended Cut where possible. If you don't play this DLC your ending still stands, this new ending simply makes some small changes in order to fix plot holes, offers some extra info on the final choice you have to make and shows a little more of how your actions leave the galaxy. Having now played through the four (yes there are four, more on that later) endings that the new Mass Effect Extended Cut DLC features my feelings are still mixed, but I am in no doubt that Bioware have crafted the best ending they could have without taking back the ending that had already set as canon. Whatever your opinion as a Mass Effect fan, the knowledge was there that the True Ending of the game was coming up on the horizon. Some were ecstatic to hear that the ending would be fixed while many thought that changing the ending this way was setting a dangerous precedent for the integrity of stories in our industry.
#MASS EFFECT 3 ENDINGS FREE#
Firstly the ending polarised fans, having a Marmite style Love it or Hate it effect, then Bioware announced that they would be treading hugely untested ground for our industry by changing the games ending due to fan feedback with free DLC.

You will ALWAYS be able to have the two options listed below, but they result in a negative outcome to the conversation. For the last three months or so, fans of Bioware's Mass Effect series have been in a sort of limbo.
#MASS EFFECT 3 ENDINGS FULL#

When you enter the central chamber, you'll have the climactic encounter with The Illusive Man.

Otherwise the way forward will be simple: head down the hallway full of bodies, through the door that opens, down the ramp, across the chasm, and then up into a central chamber. Here you can get the last Morality points in the game: answer "I've been better" for +2 Paragon Points or "I'm okay" for +2 Renegade Points. They'll grab their pistol and start making their way down the dark hallway while talking with Anderson, who was able to make it through the Conduit Beam after Shepard did. Shepard will then be on the Citadel, being flung out of the entry point in the Extended Cut. Hackett will then get a report that informs him that somebody, almost certainly Shepard, has managed to make it onto the Citadel, meaning that the Crucible should be able to dock with the Citadel very soon. If you have the Extended Cut, you'll have a scene showing the Normandy returning to the fight with Sword Team around the Citadel. While the above video is recorded from the original cut of the ending, the Illusive Man confrontation works exactly the same in any version of the game.
